The final countdown. just do it.

Day 1

OH MY GOD, I AM SO EXCITED. Today is the first day of my official journey and I couldn’t be more excited!!!! Last night I bought a Weight Watchers scale to help log my progress, and I also spend $81.18 on “healthy” groceries. Holy balls! Now it’s easier to see why so many people around the world get fast food instead: it still tastes good, it’s a helluva lot cheaper than getting the fresh stuff, and it’s so much easier just to go in the drive thru and get your complete meal in less than 5 minutes. 

This morning I set my alarm clock for 6am to head to the gym. Unfortunately, that didn’t go as planned so I’m kind of disappointed in myself which is never really an awesome start. But I plan on going to the gym this evening to make up for it. 

I also tested out my scale this morning to see what my starting weight is. 246. UGH. Fortunately for me, I’m one of those people who “carry their weight well” and you would never guess that I weigh that much. But me knowing about it is enough to bother me and want to change it so today is the day. Living in the dorms and making things to eat that are healthy is going to be a bit of a struggle, I can already tell. Before work, I grabbed 2 Clementine oranges (delish!), worked for 4 hours, came back and juiced 4 Golden Delicious apples, and made one of those Maruchan (Ramen) Instant Lunch things. Clearly the instant lunch wasn’t very healthy, but considering what I have to work w/, it’s not that bad.

I’m also tracking my calories on my iPhone w/ the LIVESTRONG app. I highly recommend it if you have a smart phone and are looking for something easy to count/keep track of calories. 

Also, as a side note, I think that knowing your BMI is super important so I checked that out as well. I am 5’9”, at 246lbs, and that falls under 36.3 on the BMI chart. Obese. I knew this, but that’s why I started this journey right?! To change what I don’t like, to be fit, healthy, and beautiful (or at least feel that way). According to some website on the internet, a healthy BMI for someone of my height would be roughly between 128-162. Looking at everything put together, I think I’ve figured out my goal weight.

14.Your opinion about your body and how confortable you are with it: As of right now, I’m not very comfortable at all. As the next few months progress, I think that this will totally change. I’m looking forward to being comfy in my own skin! :)
15.Have you ever considered plastic surgery? What would you alter about your body? I’ve thought about the possibilities, but I would never be able to afford it and I would be too nervous to go under the knife for something like that

One More Thing!

I forgot to mention that this process will be taking place after Thanksgiving break! I know this sounds like an excuse, but when you’re home for the holidays after eating crappy food from cafeterias and you’re there with your family and friends, it’s a hard time to start something.

My Thanksgiving break will be over on November 28th, so that will be day one! Can’t wait to start!!

The Final Countdown

Hey all! So this is my first post (obviously), and I decided to let everyone else follow me on my journey of healthy and continuous weight loss. I’ve never been “the really big” girl, but I’ve never been one of the skinny girls either. My goal for the next few months is to train for a 5k (something that I’ve always wanted to do). I decided to create a tumblr to share my results and share some of the knowledge I’ll learn and the struggles that I’m sure I will battle along the way. No more excuses!

Here are some quick facts about me before the cold, hard facts get thrown your way later on:

-I’m a 23 year old female

-I am a college student

-My best friend’s dad passed away over the summer because of a heart attack scaring me into some kind of health action

-I feel like working on my self image and working out will make me much more confident in myself and whatever I choose to do

-Setting up a 5k will give me a timeline so if I really want to achieve it, what better time than now!

I’ll continuously update on results, work outs, meals and snacks, how I’m feeling after every workout, and just talk about the process in general. I’ve got to start somewhere, so welcome to my journey. I hope I can inspire others while this goes on, and hopefully you all will be able to hold me accountable for my actions and help motivate me along the way!!
