Day 1
OH MY GOD, I AM SO EXCITED. Today is the first day of my official journey and I couldn’t be more excited!!!! Last night I bought a Weight Watchers scale to help log my progress, and I also spend $81.18 on “healthy” groceries. Holy balls! Now it’s easier to see why so many people around the world get fast food instead: it still tastes good, it’s a helluva lot cheaper than getting the fresh stuff, and it’s so much easier just to go in the drive thru and get your complete meal in less than 5 minutes.
This morning I set my alarm clock for 6am to head to the gym. Unfortunately, that didn’t go as planned so I’m kind of disappointed in myself which is never really an awesome start. But I plan on going to the gym this evening to make up for it.
I also tested out my scale this morning to see what my starting weight is. 246. UGH. Fortunately for me, I’m one of those people who “carry their weight well” and you would never guess that I weigh that much. But me knowing about it is enough to bother me and want to change it so today is the day. Living in the dorms and making things to eat that are healthy is going to be a bit of a struggle, I can already tell. Before work, I grabbed 2 Clementine oranges (delish!), worked for 4 hours, came back and juiced 4 Golden Delicious apples, and made one of those Maruchan (Ramen) Instant Lunch things. Clearly the instant lunch wasn’t very healthy, but considering what I have to work w/, it’s not that bad.
I’m also tracking my calories on my iPhone w/ the LIVESTRONG app. I highly recommend it if you have a smart phone and are looking for something easy to count/keep track of calories.
Also, as a side note, I think that knowing your BMI is super important so I checked that out as well. I am 5’9”, at 246lbs, and that falls under 36.3 on the BMI chart. Obese. I knew this, but that’s why I started this journey right?! To change what I don’t like, to be fit, healthy, and beautiful (or at least feel that way). According to some website on the internet, a healthy BMI for someone of my height would be roughly between 128-162. Looking at everything put together, I think I’ve figured out my goal weight.
